Chaban is Director of Clinical and Translational Research Center; "Accelerating Excellence in Translational Science" (AXIS) at Charles R. Drew University of Medicine and Science (CDU) and Associate Professor of Medicine at the Department of Medicine, University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA). He serves as Co-Leader of Research Education, Training and Career Development Program of UCLA Clinical and Translational Science Institute. Dr. Chaban’s area of expertise includes endocrine regulations of nociception as well as gender difference in pain perception. He serves as Editor for International Journal of Research in Nursing and as Executive Editor of Journal of Autacoids.

The primary focus of my research program is to elucidate the nociceptive pathways modulated by circulating and local hormones in nervous tissue. While a central site of this modulation has been widely accepted, I have continued to investigate how they act on primary nociceptors and modulate the response to pro- and anti-nociceptive signals, depending upon the nature of the signals interacting at the level of sensory neurons. Nociceptive systems are implicated in the etiology of functional disorders such as non- cardiac chest pain, interstitial cystitis, fibromyalgia, acute or chronic abdominal pain associated with functional bowel disorders, chronic pelvic pain and others. Our studies may provide important information about the actions of hormones on primary sensory neurons for a better understanding the clinical presentation of functional pain-associated disorders.

Alessandro Antonelli (MD) has completed the Specialization in Endocrinology in 1985 and the Specialization in Oncology in 1992, at the University of Pisa, Pisa, Italy. He is now Researcher in the Department of Clinical and Experimental Medicine at the University of Pisa. His researches have been published in more than 200 articles on International journals (Impact Factor > 650). He serves as an editorial board member of repute and he is Referee and Reviewer of many scientific International journals.

Primary research interest of Alessandro Antonelli is Thyroid cancer, Thyroid disorders and therapy, Graves disease.

Ming-Sheng Zhou received his Ph D from Kagawa Medical University, Japan, and his post-doc training from University of Minnesota and University of Miami. He was faculty member in University of Miami Miller School of Medicine from 2004-2012. He has been professor and chair in Department of Physiology Liaoning Medical University, China. His research interesting focuses on the cellular and molecular mechanism of vascular injury in hypertensive and metabolic diseases. He published over 50 articles in peer-reviewed journals in cardiovascular and renal medicine. He is member for APS, AHA, ADA and ASH and reviewer for numbers of international journals.

The research interest of Ming-Sheng Zhou is Renin-angiotensin system, oxidative stress and nitric oxide in regulation of blood pressure, endothelial function and cardiovascular homeostasis, Vascular injury and insulin resistance in hypertensive and metabolic diseases, Scavenger receptor CD36, smoking and atherosclerosis.

Yves Tremblay is a full professor at Laval University and in the Department of Obstetrics/Gynecology. He obtained his bachelor’s in 1980, and his PhD in 1984. From 1985 to 1990, he pursued his post-doctoral training at the Louis Pasteur University in Strasbourg, then at the UCSF. In 1990, Dr Tremblay became professor at Laval University. He is recognized by the FRQS as a career research professor. He is also a member of Université Laval’s Centre de recherche en biologie de la reproduction. He is the director of the Québec’s Respiratory Health Network. He is also a member of the Board of Directors of the Quebec Lung Association.

Yves Tremblay research interest on gender/sex-based approach in formulation and analysis of the problematic and he promotes a transdisciplinary research to document the consequences of the fetal sex on lung development and how it impacts on the fate of extreme premature in infants in case of critical medical conditions.

Dr. Mandal is is board certified in Internal Medicine and Nephrology (Kidney disease and hypertension). He is an author of many books and published articles on research on diabetes and kidney disease. He is a two-times Fulbright Scholar and a visiting professor of 23 countries which permitted him to lecture on diabetes, high blood pressure and kidney diseases in all five continents of the world. Dr. Anil K. Mandal received Men and Women of Science in 1976, Who’s Who Frontiers in Science and Technology inFebruary 1983, Distinguished Visiting Professor, University of Belgrade, Yogoslavia in October 1985, Received the Fulbright Award 1992-1993 for India in December 20, 1991, Who’s Who in America in 1997, Distinguished Service Award by National Kidney Foundation Of the USA. The research interest of Mandal is Sugar diabetes is the most common cause of kidney failure in the USA and world wide. This strong association between diabetes and kidney failure has inspired Dr Mandal to develop the frame work of Mandal Diabetes Research foundation to assist diabetic patients to live a good life with medical treatment, and not go to dialysis.

Dr. David Ehrmann specializes in the diagnosis and treatment of polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS). He is also an expert in type 2 diabetes. His research interests include the role that hereditary factors play in the development of PCOS, the use of insulin-sensitizing agents in the treatment PCOS, and the relationship between PCOS and obstructive sleep apnea. Dr. Ehrmann has written more than 60 medical publications--including book chapters, articles, and abstracts. He has been on numerous national committees and on the editorial boards of the Journal of Clinical Endocrinology and Metabolism and the American Journal of Physiology.

Weiqin Chen has done PHD, from Michigan State University, MS, from China Agricultural University & BS, from Nanjing Agricultural University. Now currently working as Assistant professor of phisiology, in Georgia Health Sciences University, Augusta GA , USA.

Weiqin Chen research interests are on Biochemistry, molecular biology, cell biology of lipid and energy metabolism, adipogenesis, obesity, lipodystropy, diabetes.
